This is an original Swedish Model 1815 Dog Lock Musket of about .75 caliber. A "Dog Lock" is a flintlock with a lever catch on the lock plate that engages the hammer at half cock. This acts as a safety. Sweden was roughly handled during the Napoleonic Wars, eventually changing sides to fight against the French. These muskets were there at the final battles.

This musket is in very good condition with an overall mostly smooth brown patina. There is some heavy pitting around the pan and touch hole and on the hammer. The brass furniture has a nice dark bronze patina. The lock works properly, but the hammer is a little loose on the tumbler shaft. The bore is pretty rough. It is dark and heavily pitted. The stock is in very good condition with some small dings and scratches from use overall. There is a small crack on the right side of the stock starting at the barrel channel between the lower two barrel bands. There are some small cracks in the right flat of the stock at the front and back of the lock. This is a scarce musket of the late Napoleonic Wars.   [pe]  [ph:L]
