The drawn saber meas. 38.50 inches from point to pommel. The blade is wonderful, it is bright and clean with only very minor scattered mottling. There is no fuller of any kind. The back of the blade is flat while the true edge is very nice with only several very small nicks that are felt rather than seen. There are no markings of any kind. Leather washer is present at the base of the blade.
Hilt has the usual brass two branch knuckle bow while the brass guard is the usual elliptical pattern. The surface of the guard, both top and bottom, shows a sand textured finish. Pommel cap is the usual domed pattern with minor casting flaws on the face. Wood grip has flat sides and is covered in brown leather and wrapped with a single strand of brass wire. Leather and wire are in excellent condition.
Iron scabbard has a pleasing dark color and is undented. It has a very classic, crude soldered seam running up one side and there is also sloppy solder applied to the iron drag. Throat is also of iron while the mounts are of plain brass. Rings are iron. Mounts show some wear from use. [ad] [ph:L]
