The 5th New Hampshire ranks number 1 on Fox’s list of the 300 fighting regiments of the Union Army. Colonel Edward Cross led the regiment until his death just southeast of the famous Wheatfield at Gettysburg on July 2, 1863    [AD] [PH:L]
