The drawn saber meas. approx. 42.25 inches long from point to pommel. The blade itself is bright with just the slightest scattered mottling. There is no pitting. True edge has several very small nicks. The blade also has an unstopped fuller running approx. 27.00 inches. There is no narrow fuller. Ricassos are unmarked. Complete leather washer is present against the base of the guard.
Hilt has the usual brass domed pommel cap and three branch knucklebow with a straight quillon. Wood grip was covered with black leather but only about 10% of it remains, however the single strand straight brass wire wrap is present and complete. Hilt is tight to the blade. All brass has a wonderful rich patina.
Iron scabbard is Confederate made. It has an iron throat that was soldered onto the scabbard as well as a crudely finished seam that runs down one side. Both ring mounts are of brass and both iron rings are present.
