This model sword was adopted in 1840 and was carried by sergeants during the Mexican War and the Civil War. This sword was made by Christopher Roby Company of West Chelmsford, MA. Semi-bright blade measures 32 inches long. Nice markings, “U.S./1865/A.G.M.”; reverse side has “C. Roby/W. Chelmsford Mass.” in a semi-circle. Choice blade, no rust/pitting. Nice brass hilt with sharp edges to the grip. Knucklebow with inspector’s stamp “A.G.M.” Choice hilt. Leather scabbard in very fine condition. Inspector’s marks on the brass drag, “A.G.M.” Scabbard very strong, no weak bends! Choice sword.
