This model sword was adopted in 1840 and was carried by sergeants during the Mexican War and the Civil War. This sword was made by the Ames Manufacturing Company located in Chicopee, MA. Very bright blade measures 32 ½” long. Nice markings, “U.S. / A.D.K. / 1863”. Reverse side with nice Ames Mfg. stamp. No rust/pitting, choice blade. Very nice brass hilt. Knucklebow stamped “AHC”. Choice leather scabbard with no weak bends. Drag stamped “J F”. Stitching very strong! Choice sword.
