[See Pritchard, COLLECTING THE CONFEDERACY, p. 155]. Roman style sword by Burger & Bros., a Richmond-based company producing Confederate edged weapons between December 1861-October 1862. Heavy spear pointed blade measures 2.25 at the base, tapering to 2” near the tip. Hand-cast, ribbed brass grip displays cross-guard quillons ornamented “C” and “S” on both sides. Blade is clean and semi-bright with few dings and darkened patina near the base, with light pitting. Hilt assembly tight, exhibiting a dark coppery patina. Else VG, and solid. Excellent piece for Confederate edged weapons collectors.
