Maker mark: “Made by / Ames Mfg. Co. / Chicopee / Mass.”. Inspectors mark: “U.S. / A.D.K. / 1861”. Bright, straight, light gray blade measuring 28” in length, .75” in width at the base. Exhibits smooth, consistent patina with two slight patches of moisture spotting mid-way near the tip. No dings. Washer absent. Cast brass hilt with ribbed grip. Displays smooth consistent medium coppery patina with light scratching & minor nicks.
Bright black leather scabbard with brass drag & throat [with frog stud]. Leather solid overall, but with light cracking and weakened spots at midpoint and just below the throat. Brass-work displays consistent medium coppery patina with light scratching and a few minor dents. Overall, VG and attractive. Good display piece.
