Maker mark: “Ames Mfg. Co./ Chicopee/ Mass.” Inspector’s mark: “US/ A.H.C./ 1862” [also, “A.D.K.” inspector-mark on knuckle guard and drag]. Bright brilliant blade, with touch of light scratching near tip, measuring 32.125” in length, .75” in width near base. Washer present, but worn. Brass hilt assembly tight and symmetrical, with kidney-shaped counter-guard and ribbed grip, displaying medium-dark coppery patina.
Black leather scabbard with brass throat, frog stud & drag. Leather exhibits light cracking, with one moderate weak spot near drag. Throat & drag display medium coppery patina with one or two minor dings. Else VG & attractive. Fine display sword with great blade.
