Side knife has a turned wood handle with spiral decoration. Wood is in excellent condition showing very little wear if any. At the base of the handle is a brass ferrule. Overall the length of the hilt is 4.25 inches. The counter guard is made of iron and is “S” shaped. The top of the guard has a nice dark patina while the underside is semi-bright. The blade is double-edged and would be diamond shaped in cross-section. The length of the blade is approx. 7.75 inches; it is sharp, and shows signs of having been sharpened. The surface of the blade is bright with light surface mottling near the ricasso. Sheath is made out of tarred leather. Surfaces have some crazing and some light discoloration from age. The sheath meas. approx. 7.75 inches long.
