An original, very nice World War I U.S. Model 1918 trench knife with original leather scabbard.
This trench dagger has a single triangular shaped blade, blued, without any markings, this blade measures approximately 9.25” long. The hilt is "D" shaped, with six stamped pyramidal teeth, a seventh point being at the pommel where the blade tang is peened.
The triangular blade is blued, and the grip is walnut. It is made by Landers, Frary & Clark, and is dated 1917 on the front of the knuckle guard. The scabbard is stamped “MS” on the side of the metal throat and tip, and “H.E.” on the top, near the opening. The leather body is olive drab and stamped “JEWEL – 1918”.
