Arsenal stamp (on leather sheath): “Rock Island/Arsenal/ 1912”. Ricasso markings: obverse — “U.S./ 12165”; obverse: “S A/ flaming bomb/1909”. Overall length 17.25”, blade 11.25”. Single edged, curved, bolo shaped bald flaring outward in width, 1.375” at base. Brass counter twist cross-guard. Wooden handle with rivets & four underside finger notches, lanyard hole, and pommel cap. Leather sheath with iron belt attachment and lanyard hole at tip.
Blade exhibits moderate pitting, blade markings crisp. Cross-guard displays medium coppery patina. Handle in excellent condition. Brown leather sheath exhibits darkened patina and moderate wear. Else VG. An unusual US military knife. Fine edged collectible. [jp]
