Item Code: 705-20

Here is an original, antique, clip point, bowie hunting knife made by the J. Allen firm of Sheffield, England in the early 1900s. In fine condition, the handsome side knife comes with a modern leather belt scabbard. Knife measures 10 1/8” long, point to pommel and features a single-edged, forged steel blade. Upper portion of blade’s left side engraved with “NON-XLL.” Stamped on the reverse ricasso of the blade is the maker four-line address of “NON-XLL / JOSEPH / ALLEN & SONS / SHEFFIELD / ENGLAND.” Blade, which is 6 1/8” long and 7/8” wide at the ricasso, tapers to a fine 2½” long clip point.  Blade is still very sharp and appears to have been sharpened.  A plain, German-silver cross guard off-sets the antique two-piece stag handle that is riveted to the tang with three small pins. Blade exhibits just very light surface rust pitting with some scattered pockmarks overall. Blade carries one very tiny nick along the edge. A fine condition hunting knife at a reasonable price.
