Standard issue Union bridle leather bayonet scabbard and frog. The frog is the 8-rivet variety that came into use in 1864. The leather surfaces are very nice with only very light crazing. The frog is stamped with a rather large maker’s mark which is hard to read. The frog exhibits a little more wear to its surface than the rest of the scabbard. The main seam down the body is good and tight. The brass finial is turning dark and has two dents in the lower part near the tip. The bayonet that accompanies the scabbard is bright with light scattered mottling and crisp “US” stamping.
