The bayonet is the standard issue Model 1855. The bayonet surfaces are semi-bright with light scattered mottling and some discoloration from rubbing against the scabbard. Nice “US” stamped on flat. Locking ring works fine. Scabbard shows moderate wear throughout. Center seam is split at mid-point for approx. 2.00 inches but still displays okay. Brass scabbard tip has nice patina with small, scattered dents from use. The leather body of the scabbard exhibits some light crackling from age but no flaking. Leather frog is in good condition. It is the 8-rivet variety with maker’s stamp of “NECE, PHILAD” and US Government sub-inspector’s stamp. There is a build up of verdigris on the rivets. The edges of the frog show some moderate wear with a small 1.00 inch tear near one of the rivets.
