A nice example of a m1886 French Lebel bayonet complete with scabbard.

This model of bayonet saw service with the French Foreign Legion and the French Army throughout WWI and II.  This early model features a blade that is fused to the hilt, a tight and functional round checkered push button stud attachment, a white alloy handle, and a scabbard with much of its original finish.

The approximately 20.25” cruciform blade is marked “L.B.” while the functional push button cuff is marked with an “L”.

The early style curved quillon shows some light surface rust with the numbers “34665”.

The included scabbard retains most of its original finish despite some light surface rust and is numbered “69833” with a “P” on the scabbard near the throat.

Later models were modified with a shortened removable blade for ease of maintenance and replacement, as well as a flat quillon to address complaints of snagging on clothing and accoutrements.  [cm][ph:L]
