Overall, the bayonet meas. approx. 25.25 inches long from point to pommel. The blade itself is 19.50 inches long with a semi-bright surface with light scattered mottling and minor pitting in the point area. At center is a 14.25 inch long fuller. One side of the ricasso is rears a weak stamping of “COLLINS 1861” while the opposite side is blank.
True edge has several tiny nicks.
Hilt is of cast brass with a ribbed grip and a working locking mechanism and clear lug mortise. Brass exhibits some light wear. Top of the grip is stamped with “57.” [ad][ph:L]
