This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall. This specimen features a bright blade with a large “US” on the flat. Complete with locking ring and screw. Socket shows some scattered brown patina. In very good condition.
Original black bridle leather scabbard with buff leather frog. The body is in good condition. The stitched seam running up the back is solid except for a 1.5” portion. Brass scabbard tip attached with two of the original four tacks. Arched buff leather frog is in very good condition. The frog is seven rivet style and is sewn and riveted to the scabbard. Frog is unmarked.
