This is the Model 1855 socket bayonet for Springfield rifle muskets. Measures approximately 21” overall. This specimen features a dark brown surface overall. Complete with locking ring and screw. Large “US” stamped on blade flat. In good condition.
Original black bridle leather scabbard with leather frog. The body is in fair condition with moderate scuffing. The stitched seam is complete and unbroken. Brass scabbard tip attached with two of the original four tacks. Arched buff leather frog is in worn condition with folds and surface cracking. The frog is the seven rivet style and was only sewn and riveted to the scabbard. The frog shows a partial inspector’s stamp.
