Image is a chest-up view of a rather serious looking Confederate major sporting a goatee. He wears a light colored double-breasted frock coat with a high collar displaying the singe star of a major’s rank.

Contrast and clarity are very good. Paper has light surface dirt while the mount corners are clipped.

Revers is blank but for some collector information in pencil. There is also the partial remains of a canceled 2 cent tax stamp. The rest of the stamp was lost when the photo was trimmed.

Image is from the collection of the late William A. Turner. [AD] [PH:L]
