A seemingly practical and cost-effective attempt to have one tool perform two tasks. Unfortunately, these did not hold up well under actual field service conditions and were generally discontinued by the 1850s.
Offered here is one such specimen with two wiper tines that spiral around a central ball screw. Threaded through the base.
