A great condition Lee Enfield No. 5 MKI jungle carbine bayonet, scabbard, and frog.
Bayonet is 12" overall with 8" bowie style blade; original blue finish is worn off leaving a nice smooth pewter-gray tone. The blade is marked with the makers code, "P" within a circle, from the Royal Ordnance Factory, Poole. It is dated 1947. Very few were made ROF Poole before No5 production ceased in 1947.
Two piece wrap around grip panels held by two screws. Pommel has inspector's marks (broad arrows) and various numbers stamped on top, side, and end. Cross guard has large ring for .303 carbine flash hider.
Well-constructed steel scabbard with throat and frog stud painted black. Light wear and minor surface oxidation.
Olive drab canvas frog remains in very good condition. Black markings on back have enough wear to make them mostly unreadable.
A rare, and very nice post-WW2 British bayonet. [jet] [ph:L]
