$135.00 SOLD

Quantity Available: None

Item Code: 1037-533

This is an original triangular socket bayonet made for the US Model 1816 Flintlock Musket longarm. In time, the M1816 was converted to a percussion musket and the accompanying accoutrements could also be affixed to the newer conversion. The M1816 bayonet was the first American bayonet to include a uniformly ground flute and the first bayonet to employ the “T” mortise in the socket. The triangular blade on this particular item measures 16¼” and has no locking ring on the socket. “US” is stamped into the flat shank. The socket measures 3”. The bayonet is bright with a few marks of dark coloring. Does not have a scabbard. [mk] [ph:L]
