Blade is dark and heavily pitted throughout with surface rust over the bottom third. Pitting gets heavier the closer you move toward the worn point. Blade edge is fair with a good-sized nick located approx. 11.00 inches up from the tip. Ricasso is stamped on one side with “US” over “WL” while the opposite side has “N. P. AMES” over “CABOTVILLE” over “1848.”  Leather washer at base of ricasso is gone.

Cast brass grip is in good condition with a light patina and some discoloration. Knuckle bow has two sets of inspector’s initials “W.D.” and “J. W. R.”

There is no scabbard.  [ad]
