This is a triangular bladed socket bayonet intended for the Model 1841 Mississippi Rifle with the modified “turned down” barrel. This measures approximately 23 ½” long overall with a 20 ¼” blade and a 2 5/8” long socket. Top of blade is stamped with a “B” just at the juncture with the elbow. Socket has reinforced collar, slot, locking ring, and a blade sight. The head of the locking ring screw has been broken off. Dark patina overall with light surface pitting. This was probably imported from Germany for use with the modified 1841 rifles. Very rare. [jet]
