(See THE BAYONET BOOK, Watts & White, p. 13, No. 19) Sword bayonet, 27.9” length, 1.25” in width at the base. Features mid-length fuller, sharpened lower edge, double edged tip, and a helical locking slot. Numbers stamped at base—“317/ L.V”—and on socket arm—“10.536”. Medium bright blade exhibits salt and pepper patina, w/patches of light pitting. Hard leather scabbard displays moderate nicks and dings, while remaining solid. Brass throat, tip, and frog prong are all securely attached and display a dark coppery patina. Scabbard and bayonet fit snugly and smoothly. Scarce piece. Solid bayonet collectible. [JP]
