Image is of a lanky looking Union soldier wearing a dark slouch hat, four button sack coat with gilt buttons and trousers. He also wears his waist belt with bayonet and scabbard. The soldier is posed at the position of “PARADE REST” and holds his Model 1861 musket partially in front of him.
Behind the soldier is a painted backdrop of an “A” tent pitched by a tree the with a US flag waving on a pole.
The clarity of the image is good but the contrast is dark.
Image has a plain brass scalloped mat with a stippled and floral decorative frame and comes in a split leather case with a layer shaped brass clasp and red crushed felt interior pillow.
Exterior of the case is in good condition with only minor surface dirt. [ad]
