Ornate frame houses a glass plate lithograph image and a signature card of Davis that reads, “VERY RESPECTFULLY YOURS, JEFFERSON DAVIS OCT. 27, 1858”. Brown suede mat with marbled inserts surround image and signature. Black metal label at the bottom reads, “PRESIDENT OF THE CONFEDERACY JEFFERSON DAVIS 1808-1889”. Label is removable. It is believed that Davis was in Washington at the time that he signed the card, and the image is an accurate depiction of his appearance at that time.
Frame has gilt accents. Measures 19 ¼” by 16 ¼”. Wire is present on reverse for hanging.
