4 pp., 11.5” x 18, five columns.  Exhibits fold-marks, and slight chipping at the extremities.  features  innumerable Jersey City advertisements—(including the “Ice Cream Saloon” at 43 Montgomery St).  Front page contains  full text of the Declaration of Independence. Inner pages announce the proclamation of New Jersey Joel Parker calling for 30 volunteers to assist in containing the rebel invasion of Pennsylvania.

Also news that “latest bulletins from the theatre of War in Pennsylvania indicates that a great battle is now in progress at, or in the vicinity of Gettysburg, between the army of the Potomac and  the Confederate army under Gen. Lee., both of which, since Thursday morning have been massing their forces for the encounter.  The action on Wednesday was but a preliminary skirmish—the Quatre Bras that is to herald the coming Waterloo…”
