Volume LXXXIV—Number 12,100. 2 pp., 15.5” x 22, six columns. Exhibits fold-marks, else VG plus.
This issue appeared in the midst of Gen. Sherman’s Atlanta Campaign. Consequently, the front page features pieces titled, “Latest From Georgia”, “The Georgia Front,” and “Gen. Joseph E. Johnston.” The latter piece, reprinted from the Mobile Register, predictably lauds General Johnston to the skies—to wit: “Gen. Johnston is more than a match for Sherman. Look at his military career ever since the war commence—how he held at Yorktown with less than 15,000 men against over 125,000 Yankees under McClellan…but for his untimely accident at Seven Pines, what a signal and glorious victory he would have gained there…”
Also other pieces titled “Threatened Raid On Danville”—"Fight near Salem”—“A Monster Turtle.” Excellent Charleston S.C. Civil War collectible. In protective sleeve w/ white card backing. [jp][ph:L]
