Vol. VI—No. 290. 16 pp. [449-464], four columns, with numerous stories, illustrations and cartoons. Front cover features portrait sketches of Union general George A. McCall, and Fitz-John Porter, along with one of the “White House” on the Pamunkey, Lately Occupied by the Union Forces.” [Before its occupation, this famous house served as Gen. Lee’s headquarters during the early phases of the Peninsula Campaign.] Interior illustrations include full page depictions of the following   scenes:  [1] “The Army of the Potomac—Captain De Hart’s Battery Shelling The Rebel Advance at the Battle of Gaines’s Mills, June 27, 1862”, and [2] “The Army of the Potomac—Burying the Dead, and Burning Dead Horses at Fair Oaks Station, Virginia.” Also a dramatic “action” center-spread, titled “The Army of the Potomac—Griffin’s and Martin’s Batteries Pouring Canister Into the Rebel Ranks at Gaines’s Mills,” with story of page 463.

Exhibits remains of old tape repair along left side. First two sheets have separated nearly completely along the vertical center line.  Scattered minor chipping, small tears, to lower right edges of pages.  Else good condition. Solid collectible, great illustrations. In protective sleeve, w/white card backing.  [jp/ld] [ph:L]
