This interesting paper reports news from the Seminole War—“Indian War in Florida, from various sources”—“Indian Massacre In Indian Key, Jan 14”—“Latest From Florida.” It also reveals itself to be “anti-abolitionist in stories such “How the Slaves Regard the Abolitionists”—"Modern Reformers”, and extremely hostile to “Mr. J.Q. Adams”.

From “How the Slaves Regard the Abolitionists”—“”We have had many direct and positive disclaimers for Abolitionists, as they are now technically called, of any intention to create a negro-war at the South, or to excite the slaves to insurrection…But, while aim and purpose may be above impeachment…the tendency and effect of their measures may be disastrous.”

From “Modern Reformers”—“Reformers are always to act in subordination, never to assume the reins of government. Put the reins of church and state into the hands of every innovator, and where would the world soon be? Anarchy and wild disorder would become universal.”

From “J.Q. Adams”—“The late extraordinary speech of Mr. Adams is considered by the entire Whig press as an act by which that erratic and ill-tempered old gentleman united himself to the Republican Party. We beg to decline the connection. Mr. Adams has opposed all parties, but never belonged to any; he has been always for himself alone.”
