Full-standing studio view of White. He wears an open single-breasted jacket, a vest and holds a kepi in his hand. The image is clear with good contrast. The corners of the mount have been trimmed. Photographer's backmark, Ben Oppenheimer, Mobile. A pencil identification is on the back.
Enlisted on April 22, 1861 in New Orleans as 5th Sergeant for duration of the "siege of Fort Pickens". Promoted to 2nd Lieutenant on December 1, 1861.
