Image shows Charles F. Williams in the uniform of a 2nd Lieutenant standing beside a low table on which his dark slouch hat leans against a book. Williams wears a dark frock coat with light trousers. At his waist is his belt with Pattern 1851 eagle belt plate and cradled in his left arm is his Model 1850 Foot Officer’s sword.

Image is clear but the contrast has a heavy sepia tone to it. Around Williams head there are four spots of oxidation with two more at the base of his chin. These are small and do not distract the viewer too much. The image paper goes right to the edge of the mount with light to moderate dirt around the edges.

Reverse has no photographer’s imprint. Identification is confirmed by another online image a Xerox of which comes with this image.
