Dated “Baltimore, July 8th, 1826.” Third Series, Vol. 19, No. VI. {Vol. XXX, No. 775. 16 pp. [329-344], 6 x 9.75. Slightly yellowed w/light staining of lower margin. Else VG and entirely legible.

Established in 1811 by Hezekiah Niles, the Baltimore-based Niles Weekly Register was the nation’s first weekly news magazine, and was published through 1848. Highly influential, the Weekly register offered a wide coverage of political and cultural news, in a spirit of magnanimous disputation.”  This particular issue—July 8, 1826—is noteworthy for leading with a eulogy of Thomas Jefferson, who had died July 4, 1826, the same day as John Adams.
