This is an 1885 copy of the Vicksburg newspaper originally called “THE DAILY CITIZEN.” The original single page newspaper was printed on a piece of colorful wallpaper. Offered here is a copy, “THE GRANT EDITION” of 1885. The text on one side is printed in black ink while the other side mimics a wallpaper print but is done in dark colors. Blue and red details are difficult to see over the mostly gray background. All printing is legible and this is a nice copy. The paper is in good shape. Item measures approximately 13” wide x 19” long. At lower, right corner is text detailing that it is an April 16, 1885 reproduction and that “Agents [are] wanted to sell it.” Done by Rider & Reynolds of Dunkirk, NY. In protective sleeve. [jet]
