Circa 1963 (the Civil War Centennial), this is a very nice set of colored prints illustrating the officially prescribed uniform of the Confederate armed forces. The 9 plates come housed in a blue folder which states that only 200 sets were printed.

Plates are printed on heavy stock paper and meas. approx. 8.50 x 11.00 inches and are full color.

The first plate is a copy of Confederate General Order No. 4 which describes the color and  braid on forage caps used by the different branches of the Confederate army. Across the bottom are for kepis of various colors showing braid for a general, colonel of cavalry, captain of infantry and lieutenant of artillery.

The second print shows staff officers uniforms, general, adjutant general and colonel of engineers.

The third shows artillery uniforms for a colonel, lieutenant colonel and captain.

The fourth shows cavalry uniforms for a colonel, major and captain.

The fifth shows infantry uniforms for a colonel, captain and 1st lieutenant.

The six shows overcoats for infantry and cavalry

The seventh shows uniforms of the C.S. Navy for a flag officer, captain, lieutenant & surgeon

The eighth shows chevrons for artillery, cavalry and infantry

The ninth shows collar rank insignia for officers.
