Steel engraving of President Lincoln within a frame of different art scenes.
At upper center is a stack of books with a paper marked “PROCLAMATION OF FREEDOM.” This is flanked at left by the scene a soldier leaving his family on one side and of freed slaves moving down a road on the right. The bottom center has shaking hands above “UNION” within a laurel wreath flanked by rebellion personified as a warrior with a sword and peace personified by Columbia with a spread-winged eagle. Beneath the image is a facsimile of President Lincoln’s signature followed by the caption “ABRAHAM LINCOLN, PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES, ASSASSINATED APRIL 14th 1865.”
Print is sharp and clear however the surface of the paper does have water staining and surface dirt.
Print is in a modern frame that meas. approx. 19.50 x 23.50. [ad]
