Text: “Sir: You are hereby notified that you were, on the 16th day of September, 1863, legally drafted in the service of the United States for the period of three years, in accordance with the provisions of the act of Congress, March 3, 1863. You will accordingly report on the 28th day of October, at the place of rendezvous, in West Lebanon, or be deemed a deserter, and be subject to the penalty prescribed therefor by the Rules and Articles of War.
Transportation will be furnished you on presenting this notification at Plymouth Station, on the C, C & M Railroad, or at the station nearest you place of Residence. Signed by Chester Pike, Provost Marshal, Third District of Massachusetts.”
