Commanded by Captain Hugh N. McDonald. Dated 31st July 1862. Pre-printed Government form, 30” x 21, entries in pencil. Beginning with Captain McDonald, the muster roll lists 34 men plus 17 recruits, 51 in all. Exhibits light yellowing & wrinkling while remaining entirely legible.
Organized in West Chester, PA, 6/9/1861, this unit was attached to McCall’s Pennsylvania Reserves Division and attached the 1st Army Corps, and later the 5th Army corps (at the Battle of Gettysburg). During McClellan’s 1862 Peninsula Campaign, the regiment was engaged in the Seven Days Battles before Richmond, and at 2nd Run, and participated thereon through in all battles and campaigns of the Army of the Potomac through late May 1864.It Left the line just prior to Cold Harbor. Mustered out 6/10/1864. During service the unit lost 108 men killed or mortally wounded, and 66 by disease for a total 174.
