New York, 1863. 40 pages. Second edition, enlarged. Original printed wrappers, small piece missing from margin of front wrap and title page though not affecting text. Shows crease where folded, some soiling to wraps. Scattered light soiling and foxing throughout interior pages , but still a good copy.
Written by George Wilkes, editor of “Wilkes’ Spirit of the Times”. Contains his critical observations of McClellan’s military maneuvers. The publisher’s preface contained in the booklet indicates the contents of the booklet were part of a series by Wilke devoted to the review of McClellan and his battles, down to what Wilkes describes as “the unspeakably disgraceful battle of Antietam.” Wilkes was one of McClellan’s supporters at the outset of the war, but his conduct led him to become quite critical.
