Pre-printed and ink; measures 4” x 4 ¾”. Good condition; some soiling. Horizontal folds with small holes along upper fold; lower fold has a tear approx. ½ way inward from the right edge. Small area of paper loss at upper left corner; creasing at upper right and lower left corners.

At top is “MILITARY BALL”. Underneath is a wingspread eagle holding shield, arrows and olive branches.  Below is “WASHINGTON’S BIRTH DAY. / THE MANAGERS invite the attendance of” – followed by “Mr. John Rogers” in period ink.  It continues: “…at Major General P. WHITNEY’S, on THURS- / DAY, they 19 inst., at 3 o’clock. P. M.”

It goes on to list the names of the Managers, all Colonels and Majors.  “OFFICERS are requested to appear in UNIFORM.”

At bottom is “Niagara Falls, Feb. 12, 1829.”  [ld][ph:L]
