3 1/2" x 8" portion of a pension document. Trimmed at top edge. Dated 1899, filled out in ink. Verifies that the soldier, Joseph Scott, was at that time a resident of Riverton, Michigan. Signed by Roswell P. Bishop, US Senator from Michigan.
Joseph E. Scott was 18 years old when he enlisted on 3/18/62 at Wolcott, NY as a private. On 6/25/62 he mustered into Co. K, 75th NY. Promoted to Musician, date not given. 2/8/64 transferred to Co. B; 8/12/64 transferred to Co. C. Mustered out on 8/31/65 at Savannah, GA.
Roswell P. Bishop was 19 years old when he enlisted on 8/6/61 at Oneonta as a Private. On 8/25/61 he mustered into Co. C, 43rd New York Infantry. Wounded at Yorktown, VA (date not state) - his right arm was amputated. Discharged for wounds on 12/11/62. [AD] [PH:L]
