Early war bond issued from the first Confederate Capital at Montgomery, Alabama. The bond is dated May 1, 1861 and is number 2812. The center design is the number “1000” stamped on a green backing. The particular printer of this bond is unknown. At the bottom are 16 coupons. The first was redeemable March 1, 1864 and the last on Sept. 1, 1871. Approx. 7,161 were printed. Bond is in good condition with a small round hole punched at top left corner. All ink inscriptions are readable.
