Early war bond issued from the first Confederate Capital at Montgomery, Alabama. The bond is dated May 1, 1861 and is number 6982. The center design at the top is of two seated figures, Columbia and Ceres. Behind them are factories, ships and bales of grain. This particular bond was printed by Douglas of New Orleans. At the bottom are 17 coupons. The first was redeemable Sept. 1, 1863 and the last on Sept. 1, 1871. Approx. 3,250 were issued. Bond is in good condition and all ink inscriptions are readable.
