Early war bond issued from the first Confederate Capital at Montgomery, Alabama. The bond is dated May 1, 1861 and is number 5685. The center design is the number “1000” stamped on a green backing. The particular printer of this bond is unknown. At the bottom are 13 coupons. The first was redeemable Sept. 1, 1865 and the last on Sept. 1, 1871. Approx. 7,161 were printed. Bond is in good condition with a small round hole punched at top left corner. Also, bottom edge of one coupon is creased. All ink inscriptions are readable.
