State of South Carolina 50 cents note dated February 1, 1863. We have a number of these in stock in varying condition. Some are in very nice, clean condition; the majority have at minimum some light soiling or foxing. Some also have minor tears or paper loss. Those in the worst condition have more soiling, tears, etc.
The notes are printed on cream colored paper with a Palmetto tree at center, and a pair of “50”s and “FIFTY CENTS” in blue ink; on the reverse in red ink is a large “FIFTY” and “issued under Act Feb. 1863”. [ld] [ph:L]
