Modern print in a black frame with with hangwire on reverse. Shortly after Buford’s cavalry rode into Gettysburg, orders were issued prohibiting the sale of alcohol. With a battle coming, the general wanted his boys soberer than sober. Not that these orders were obeyed then, and certainly haven’t been since. Indeed, in recent years Gettysburg has been called a “good little ol’ drinking town with a history problem.” On June 30, 1863, however, Gen. Buford put his foot down, or tried to. The “Star” Job Printing Office text speaks for its self. A must piece for sober-sided Gettysburg buffs….recommended by the ghost of Mark Twain.
