This original glass bottle from the mid 19th century (1860s to 1870s) is an 1862-patented ‘Drake’s’ brand cabin bottle. Molded from dark amber glass, this ‘bitters bottle is in very fine condition and stands 10¼” high x 3” wide x 3” deep. Bottle has applied tapered lips and a body with a ‘cabin-like’ design. The three-tiered roof is embossed with the maker’s name “8 T / 1860 / PLANTATION / X / BITTERS.” Opposite side shows “PATENTED / 1862” embossed on the middle tier. All glass is free of chips, cracks or blemishes. Bottle has a flat base that shows the Key Mold style of the 1870s. Specimen is non-dug. A very fine Civil War era glass antiquity that displays well.
