The 26th North Carolina was attached to Pettigrew’s Brigade, Heth’s Division, Hill’s Corps, A.N.V. Attended by its famous band [“The Johnny Reb Band from Salem”], and commanded by its “Boy Colonel” [21 year old Henry King Burgwyn], the 26th entered the first day’s fight at Gettysburg with 843 effectives and suffered 80% casualties, one of the highest casualty rates of the battle.  Superb Gettysburg, Confederate collectible. Nicely priced.
